As frustrating as each can be, the problem with a weblog isn't re-working or re-decorating. The problem is populating it with worthwhile stuff. Oh dear.
It's Fall. Autumn, to some. I rather like Autumn because it's a more mysterious-sounding term. Fall is what the leaves do. For some, it's what hopes do at this time of year as the sun abandons us.
For some reason, I say Fall even though I like it less.
This is the time of year I turn to martinis and Sinatra. Beer seems to go with Summer but with the exception of the fantastical Snow Cap by Pyramid, the Autumn and Winter are cocktail seasons.
Hot Buttered Rum is good. I like to make the butter stock beforehand and mix it up as the spirits move me.
I also enjoy a good Scotch or even a bourbon at this time of year though bourbon can give me a headache the next day even in small dosages.
There is, of course, nothing like Bombay Sapphire gin in a martini. My problem is not having any room in the freezer for ice so I must buy bags and keep them in a cooler.
Along about February, I'm sipping iced gin alone without any vermouth...
