One Morbid-ass Religion

Popular Italian Catholic saint exhumed 40 years on - Yahoo! News

A Church statement said the body was in "fair condition", particularly the hands, which Archbishop Domenico D'Ambrosio, who witnessed the exhumation in the southern Italian town where Pio died, said "looked like they had just undergone a manicure".

What the hell is "fair condition"? Fair condition for a body that's been rotting for 40 years?

I thought Scientology had cornered the market on weirdness but I see the Catholics are coming right out of turn four with their heads filled with paint thinner fumes.

Hell yeah! Take a look at this email from my friend Audrey about Easter:
AUDREY WROTE: Hey Everybody,
I just received this email a while ago and was about to delete it when I realized that there might be folks out there that relish a creepy twist to symbolism and rituals for otherwise sacred and inspirational holidays.
I looked on the following brow raiser, like I did with "The Christmas Nail". If you have never seen nor heard of this...do let me explain in morbid detail. This is a Christmas ornament that is hung in the back of the tree...it is metal and resembles a turn of the century nail. It represents what pierced Christ's hands and feet to the cross. Now what a charming thought! " Robbie, you hang the snowman and Sally...you hang the candy canes and Here you go John...you get go over to the pretty tree and hang the SPIKE THAT KILLED JESUS !! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! HO-HO-HO
so anyway....y'all might know of someone that might find making these cookies fun (?) But there is something about having kids whack at a ziplock bag of pecans and telling them that this is like they beat Jesus, just disturbing...good intentions gone horribly wrong.
Think Happy Thoughts Ya'll,

Audrey

You could try this with your kids that Saturday night before Easter.
EASTER STORY COOKIES You need: Bible
1 cup whole pecans
1 tsp vinegar
Pinch Salt
1 cup sugar
3 egg whites
zipper baggie (ziploc baggie)
wooden spoon Preheat oven to 300 degrees (this is important-don't wait until you're half done with the recipe!) Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden
spoon to break into small pieces. Explain that after Jesus was arrested, He was beaten by the Roman soldiers.
Read John 19:1-3 Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp vinegar into mixing bowl.
Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was given vinegar todrink.
Read John 19:28-30 Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent life.
Explain that Jesus gave His life to give us life.
Read John 10:10-11 Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest into the bowl.
Explain that this represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, and the bitterness of our own sin.
Read Luke 23:27 So far, the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1 cup sugar.
Explain that the sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because
He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him.
Read Ps 34:8 and John 3:16 Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed.
Explain that the color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those
whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus.
Read Isiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3 Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper covered cookie sheet.
Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid.
Read Matt27:57-60 Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven OFF.
Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door.
Explain that Jesus' tomb was sealed.
Read Matt 27:65-66 Go to bed!
Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight.
Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed.
Read John 16:20 and 22 On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie. Notice the
cracked surface and take a bite.
The cookies are hollow! On the first Easter, Jesus' followers were amazed
to find the tomb open and empty.
Read Matt 28:1-9 Share the Easter Cookie Story with your friends Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, Faith looks up.

Have a Blessed Easter Holiday
